Stirling Council is looking for an experienced Operations Team Manager to fulfil the role of Waste Disposals Team Leader. Based primarily at the Lower Polmaise Waste Management Facility, the successful candidate will oversee the compliant operational management and strategic planning of Waste Disposals activities including contract management and public procurement functions.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, together with extensive practical and relevant experience of working in a Waste and Recycling environment and possess a detailed knowledge of relevant regulation. In addition to relevant management experience, a proven ability to lead and manage teams within an operational environment and commitment to excellent customer service is essential.

As named Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) holder for the Council, it is essential that applicants hold level 4 WAMITAB qualification for Managing Hazardous Transfer of Waste and Managing Closed Landfill or, where this is not held at application, there is a requirement to gain this within 2 years of commencement in the post. The successful candidate should also hold certification in IOSH Managing Safely.

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of managing landfill sites and associated landfill aftercare.
  • Experience of working within an integrated performance and business management framework.
  • Relevant experience of Business Management / Health and Safety Management Systems accredited to ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 respectively
  • Experience / Qualifications of project management in line with established methodologies

 

Essential Skills

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience in operational budget management
  • Appropriate level of IT skills (Word processing, MS Excel, PC comms literate – as commensurate with the scope of the post)
