Full Job Description
This role reports directly to the Technical Manager. The purpose of the Technical Assistant role is to manage the day to day running of the laboratory, to report on various test results on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and to uphold the auditing schedules in place to ensure the company is audit ready at all times and to contribute to maintaining high standards across various technical and operational functions. Duties include:
- Managing product testing schedules internally and externally.
- Working within the team to resolve quality issues both internally and externally.
- Dealing with customer complaint investigation.
- Training employees (coaching employees, assisting with producing work instructions, facilitating training sessions).
- Acting as an internal auditor for QMS, Hygiene and GMP Audits.
- Monitoring product safety within chillers and freezers (with input from the Engineering department and Technical Manager).
- Raising and reacting to Non-conformances.
- Ensuring adherence to quality standards (raw material, WIP, finished product, etc.).
- Participating and managing HACCP procedures.
- Conducting traceability activities (internally and during audits).
- Providing appropriate cover for Technical Manager in their absence.
- Supporting factory managers by informing and providing training in 'safe food made safely', health and safety, quality and Good Manufacturing Practices, monitoring compliance and highlighting areas for improvement.
- Assist the Technical Manager in maintaining total compliance in all audit and technical matters related to food safety and quality.
- Assist Managing Pest Control
- Assist Technical Manager during Customer audits
Basic understanding of HACCP - Food Safety level 2
- Experience in a food manufacturing plant or FMCG plant.
- Good IT Skills, Microsoft Office and in particular Excel
- Understanding of audit processes
- Good problem-solving skills
- Effective management skills
- Able to react quickly to issues
- Effective communication skills
- Must be flexible in approach to working hours and days when the need arises
