We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Clerk to join a flexible team of professionals in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the preparation of reports and documentation and providing support to projects relating to Engineering and/or Roads and Transportation.
East Lothian Council are currently progressing the Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme under the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009.
Your main duties will involve providing support to the Musselburgh Flood Protection Scheme (MFPS) project team and Senior Flooding Engineer and our Team Manager in the delivery of flood protection schemes within East Lothian, specifically working towards the successful implementation of the MFPS. Primary duties will include supporting the project team in the preparation and review of technical reports, liaising with internal colleagues and members of the public and providing administrative support on the MFPS and within the Road Services Team. The role will also require on-site response to emergency flood situations.
You will be required to understand Computer Aided Design (CAD) and/or Geographical Information System (GIS) to interpret drawings/works packages.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (technical and non-technical) as well as members of the public. You will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to analyse information and clearly communicate with customers, contractors and other stakeholders. You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role.
You will be working within an office environment and will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within beautiful East Lothian. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service.
