Full Job Description

We seek to appoint a highly motivated individual to work as part of a small team of multi-skilled technicians providing support for world-leading teaching and research within the School of Psychology and Neuroscience. Areas of research include neuroscience, origins of mind, perception and social psychology. Previous projects have included Mouse VR system, remote access and feeding device for capuchin monkeys (Edinburgh Zoo), touch panels for chimpanzees (Edinburgh Zoo) and flow controller for electrophysiology. 


The successful applicant will be confident in collaborating closely with staff and students on the design and fabrication of novel research apparatus. They will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects in the areas of digital and analogue electronic and microcontroller-based (e.g. Arduino) equipment. You will have a high attention to detail and a methodical approach to fault finding and diagnosis. Individuals are encouraged to be innovative and are supported to reach their personal and professional goals.


The successful applicant should hold as a minimum an HND (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering or allied subjects with proven experience in a relevant area, ideally at least 3 years. A flexible and positive team player with the ability to manage their own workload autonomously is essential.
