Roads Technician (15/2268)

Roads are looking to hire a Roads Technician within the Road Network West Team (Barnkirk Depot, Newton Stewart) (Permanent)
Based at the above location you will provide technical support in the supervision of day-to-day local Road Maintenance, and in addition, support senior officers in ensuring all work activities are carried out within agreed guidelines, regulations, and codes of practice, ensuring an effective and efficient level of service provision to the public.
Evidence of a qualification to HNC / SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in relevant discipline are desirable. Including evidence of CPD, NRSWA supervisor qualification and Health & Safety Training are also desirable.
It is desirable that you have some knowledge in the following areas, experience in a supervisory role performance Management commercial contracting, partnership working and Health & Safety management, but training and development will be given to successful candidates in these areas.
Experience of working in an office environment is desirable and you must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
You must be flexible, self-motivated, able to work under pressure to deadlines, possess good organisational skills and have the confidence to deal with staff, the public and contractors. You should be a team player with good oral/written communication skills.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
Salary placing is dependent on experience and qualifications.
