Technician - Electrical Safety

31,093 - 33,540 (pro-rata)

0.5 FTE / 17.5 hours

Based at Falkirk Campus

Fixed Term until April 2025

The Commercial Training Team delivers a wide range of Hazardous Area and Safety courses including CompEx provision. We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technician to join a passionate team of experienced professionals in supporting a quality teaching and learning environment here at Forth Valley College.


This post, as a key member of our team will require someone with good organisational skills ensuring that training staff and students are appropriately supported with the preparation of learning materials to optimise the delivery of our courses. Minimum HNC in electrical discipline, or recognised professional qualification or vocational qualification, or significant relevant experience is essential. It is also very desirable for the candidate to demonstrate an understanding of Electrical Installation/Inspection within Hazardous Areas, hold their CompEx 01-04 qualification and have good ICT and communication skills.

As part of this role you will be required to:


* Carry Out Preventative and Routine Maintenance Tasks
* Support the Trainer/Assessors to optimise course delivery
* Logistical Management - Stock Check and Material Procurement Activities
* Prepare cable and strip out assessment bays
* Course Administrative Support function
* Continue to Develop systems and procedures to support course management

The Electrical Technician must have experience in record keeping systems and procedures, servicing/repair and ensuring machinery and equipment is maintained correctly and operated in accordance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).


In addition the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate good working practices, hand skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships within the team and wider organisation ensuring that continuing key maintenance and operating targets are met where appropriate.
