Join us as a Technology Risk & Controls Senior Associate

  • In this key role, you’ll be managing technology risks for the business, and providing constructive oversight and challenge to technology related activities
  • We’ll look to you to enable intelligent risk decisions to be made while the business fulfils its regulatory obligations to protect investors
  • You'll achieve excellent exposure as you create a strong operational risk management culture and awareness across the function with a focus on technology risk

What you'll do

As a Technology Risk & Controls Senior Associate, you’ll provide the link between technology (architecture, engineering & security) and compliance risk and regulatory requirements. Your key areas of coverage will include system change management, operational resilience, security and risk register support/maintenance.

You will work with the Technology Upper Risk Manager and wider Risk team to coach the wider business on the intent and meaning of technology risk regulations and policies and equip them with the means to achieve compliant processes and software.

You’ll also be:

  • Building insights by using internal and external intelligence, and using this to actively consider the business risk profile to validate how we identify and assess operational risk
  • Undertaking regular business reviews of material risks across all operational risk standards, and using the output to inform debate and action
  • Maintaining the technology risk register, ensuring that risks are consistently documented, updated and escalated
  • Leading regulation and policy read across activity and action management
  • Overseeing incident engagement from risk perspective, including documenting impact on the overall business risk and controls position (via a trigger process) and track and challenge the completion of risk remedial actions / controls identified in post incident reviews

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a track record of supporting multiple activities in a fast paced environment, coupled with influencing and creative skills to resolve conflict and complex problems and to identify alternative solutions. You’ll also need an understanding of market conditions and how they could impact operational risks and practices applicable to technology.

Alongside this, you’ll need knowledge of the regulatory environment relating to large, complex financial service organisations and a broad understanding of risk management disciplines in financial services.

In addition, you’ll need:

  • Experience of managing key stakeholder relationships both within and outside of operational risk
  • The ability to consistently exercise sound and decisive judgement
  • Experience of working in or supporting a technology business and applying risk management practice
  • Practical experience of operational risk management techniques
  • Experience or a good understanding of cloud based environments and AI
