Full Job Description
An opportunity has arisen for a Tekla Detailer to join the Fabrications team, a Galliford Try business. As a Tekla Design Engineer, you will be responsible for generating 3D steelwork models, preparing calculations and generating fabrication shop issue drawings. You will be working in Common Data Environments, coordinating with project managers, engineers, and design teams.
- Consult with the Project Management team as to the 'constructability' of the items.
- Provide design input at the outline, optioneering and detailed design stage of the project including working within the Common Data environment.
- Support the digitisation of the Fabs business by developing software and looking at new technologies and software.
- Present structural analysis for checking by a structural engineer.
- Occasional site visits for field measurements.
- Use Tekla and AutoCAD to develop layout, drawings, and designs that meet expectations and specifications.
- Review and interpret structural and architectural plans from the contractor to provide detailed shop.
- Manage and maintain file structure for assigned projects.
- Review designs against client specifications.
- Perform CAD Drawings in a manner which adheres to accepted engineering practices and standards as well as company values.
- 2-D Drawing editing. (Editing and cleaning 2-D Drawings in Cad and Tekla).
- Apply 2D and 3D CAD skills in the creation, conveying or extraction of information related to the project work.
- Generate complete submittal packages for approval and for fabrication.
- Generate an accurate, well-organized model and generate shop drawings.
An industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent - Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Knowledge in basic drafting standards and principles
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills and a clear understanding of the English language in both Oral and Written form
- The ability to pay close attention to detail, precision, and accuracy.
- Able to work in a busy environment under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face).
