Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for Telecoms Site Engineer to become a key member of the team and have competency to deliver and manage all aspects of Telecoms installations and contract management within the Rail sector. Operational Comms installation including but not limited to:

  • FTN, FTNx & Legacy installation experience.
  • Installation of fibre & Copper cabling systems.
  • VOIP Installation.
  • CAT5&6 Installations.
  • Disconnection and At-Risk Management.
  • Telephony - Lineside SPT, PZT, ETD and Direct Line.
  • Our Telecoms group have a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK and NI. Your Purpose: As part of your day-to-day role, you are responsible for the following:
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed safely, within planned timescales and in line with quality standards. Assist in the detail planning of the assigned project.
  • Ensure that design, materials & plant are available and inspected for the designated tasks.
  • Responsible for accurate daily recording of progress against planned works & report variances between planned and actual performance and agreed appropriate action.
  • Responsible for compliance with standards in relationship to quality and safety of all installation work's identifying and proposing improvements as required.
  • Assist in the management & co-ordination of drawings & plans with the technical ability to interface and lead with design and engineering teams to resolve technical issues as encountered on site.
  • Maintain configuration control. Support in the generation and disposition of change documents, non-conformance, construction logs, redlines and as-built; including but not limited to drawing and specification control and interpretation on the construction site, snag list identification, close out, etc.
  • Monitor the technical requirements of the work, including implementation of (sub)contractor quality assurance and subcontractor adherence to quality management plan, environmental plan, project specifications and any other processes and procedures as required.
  • Actively contribute to the construction change control log and support change management, including assisting in dealing with variations and contract claims.
  • Support the schedules developed by the project and advise of any risks to the SCM and LCE.
  • Co-operate with quality, safety and environmental objectives and contribute, where appropriate to AtkinsRéalis commitment for continual improvement.
  • Carry out regular Safety & Quality Inspections and support and implement improvement plans. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, sub-contractors and other discipline project management and contractors.
  • Review and approve (sub)contractor work as stipulated in the Inspection and Test Plans. Support the LCE with resolution of design changes and undertaking constructability reviews throughout project life.
  • Support the CRE by providing all installation documents - ITPs. Install, splice optical fibre.
  • Install terminate lineside copper cable. Install railway telecoms equipment & racks associated with project build. IP network deployment & testing.
  • Ability to interpret and implement technical designs - Familiar with TENE. Coach and mentor junior staff for testing & Installation activities.

    Relevant trade/construction experience.
  • Driving Licence.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Project safety management experience.
  • Working knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Basic IT skills linked to good document management.
  • Copper cabling install, termination and testing.
  • Telecoms equipment installation.
  • FTN/x Installation.
  • City & Guilds 3466 External Fibre Optic Jointing and Testing.
  • OLEC 1.
  • PTS (AC & DCCR)
  • Good understanding of IP networks deployment.
  • COSS qualified.
  • IRSE 2.2.110v6 Telecoms installer.
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).
