Full Job Description

A Test Engineer is required to conduct engine performance, emissions, development and durability projects for external customers. This position will have the technical support of the Projects Director, Test Managers and Project Support team. As part of a flexible and agile workforce there will be opportunities to work on EV and Hybrid projects. Key activities:

  • Delivery of engine and component test programs for external clients
  • Interpreting customer test procedures and requirements
  • Writing tests (i.e. test stages or schedules)
  • Setting up alarm tables and shutdown limits
  • Writing clear and concise test instructions
  • Daily status reporting
  • Component failure reporting
  • End of test report writing
  • Ensure facilities and test equipment meet customer requirements and are properly maintained and in calibration
  • Continually liaise with the customer engineers to ensure progress and direction meets customer satisfaction
  • Liaise with test technicians to maintain a professional working relationship ensuring they are informed of project progress or changes
  • Ensure delivery of accurate data with high levels of repeatability and traceability
  • Delivery of quality checked raw data, processed data and reports
  • Proactive approach to fault diagnosis
  • Potential for training and upskilling for working on Hybrid powertrain and EV projects
  • Act in accordance with the behaviours for Intertek staff at all times

    We are seeking Test Engineers, who will ensure customer test requirements are met, and consistent high-quality test data is delivered on time to meet challenging customer demands. You will be highly motivated and possess a strong ambition to succeed within a technically challenging and highly innovative setting and have good communication skills when dealing with customers, team members and Intertek senior management., Engineering graduate
  • Test boundary condition control and checking
  • Data consistency and repeatability checking
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of using:
  • ETAS INCA or alternative engine calibration tools and software
  • Experience of managing data
  • Use of suitable functional or analytical tools, MATLAB, Excel and hand calculations where appropriate
  • Good IT literacy skills
  • Desirable skills:
  • Engine particulate emissions measurement
  • Combustion analysis
  • AVL Concerto (or similar)
  • Engine gas emissions testing
