Full Job Description

We are looking for a Registered Nurse first level (Adult) or Operating Department Practitioner to join our Theatre/Endoscopy team at the Lorn and Islands Hospital Oban.
The department cares for elective and emergency surgical and endoscopy patients.
The Theatre/Endoscopy department is operational Monday to Friday for people attending for both general surgery and endoscopy procedures.
In addition, there is an out of hours on call service for emergencies .
The successful applicant will work 4 days per week in all areas - Peri-operative, Anaesthetics, Reception, Recovery and Endoscopy.
This post offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to gain skills and experience in elective, emergency and surgical/endoscopic conditions.
It is essential for applicants to have previous experience working in Theatre and/or Endoscopy.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan and implement care for patients. Applicants should also have good communication and interpersonal skills and work well within a team

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
