Full Job Description

Due to introduction of Senior Charge Nurse role in theatre at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, we are now recruiting x3 Band 6 RN/ ODP.  Experienced applicants are invited to join our enthusiastic and innovative team within Forth Valley Theatre Dept.

This post would hold Team Lead responsibilities for individual theatre teams.

The Theatre Department comprises of 16 theatres at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, 2 theatres at Falkirk Community Hospital and 2 minor Ops rooms. The activity within these planned and emergency theatres comprise of patients who require complex surgical interventions including General, Orthopaedic, Urology and Gynaecology. 

We are seeking motivated individuals with relevant experience, preferably  trained in Recovery, Anaesthetics and Scrub that can demonstrate the ability to perform in a team lead role. There is an expectation in these posts that the successful candidate/s can lead by example and drive improvements in patient Care Assurance and Patient Safety. An expectation is to be clinically assessing the staff within your placed theatre and ensuring documentation of staff performance and competencies are completed within a time set period. 

The shift pattern will be essentially Monday Sunday.  Flexibility is essential to meet service demands.

As you will be responsible with the SCN/Theatre Coordinator for the Team ethos, Professionalism, and standards of practice of the theatre you will be assigned to, and act as, the deputy in the absence of the SCN/Theatre Coordinator. You will assist in incident reporting management, absence management, HR and performance of your team.  

Competent advanced IT and verbal communication is essential. Successful candidates will be offered a supported induction period.  It is also essential you have evidence of continual development, IT skills, good communication skills and enthusiasm for working in a theatre environment. 

As a key leadership team member in these fast-paced areas you will require a can do approach, an understanding of the current and future demands on the service, the skill and desire to deliver on these requirements and the ability to lead the team to achieve success.
