1 x 10 hours per week, Stromness Primary School and Nursery

Temporary up to 4 July 2025

We are looking for positive and enthusiastic individuals to help deliver the Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme for children at a range of settings.

We are looking to provide supervised toothbrushing on 4 days per week, but would be willing to consider applications for fewer hours from anyone interested in helping deliver this important programme.

The hours are worked around nursery and school timetables and breaktimes, 4 days per week.

This role involves organising and supervising children brushing their teeth as part of the NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme. You will work on your own supervising children brushing their teeth, but you will have regular contact with the NHS Orkney Oral Health Team. While your role is not to brush children’s teeth you will be there to encourage the children to brush their teeth well and develop this important lifetime habit.

Appropriate and relevant experience of working with children is essential and a basic knowledge of, or interest in, oral health improvement would be an advantage.

You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.

These post are subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.

Prospective applicants are invited to contact Karyn Tait, Oral Health Team Lead, NHS Orkney for further details at the Dental Department, The Balfour, Kirkwall, KW15 1NZ.

Closing Date: Sunday 10 November 2024

Please note that interview expenses are not payable for this post.
