Trainee Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Are you a Trainee Assistant Quantity Surveyor seeking a role with a developer who focus on bespoke projects?

We are delighted to showcase this Trainee Assistant Quantity Surveyor role with one of the industry’s leading independent private house builders based in Livingston. This is a crucial commercial post to assist the department with growth and an increasing pipeline of developments coming through this year, and presents an excellent opportunity for someone to get some hands-on experience alongside their qualification.

Reporting to the Quantity Surveyor, duties of the role include:

• Supporting the QS with effective on-going monitoring of costs and control of labour, material, plant and sub-contractors.
• Supporting the QS with preparation of cost reporting and accurate cost to complete for your allocated projects including working with project team on cost prevention.
• Responsibility for supporting the QS with the procurement of all sub-contractors, materials and plant essential for the delivery on time and within budget of your allocated projects.
• Providing input on evaluating sub-contractor tenders, comparing with development budget and appointing sub-contractors.
• Supporting with the accurate measurement and valuation of works on site and preparing and processing sub-contractors valuations and associated payments.
• Helping to prepare quarterly cash flow projections.
• Shadowing the QS whilst attending monthly site meetings with project team.
• General commercial and administration duties associated with your allocated projects.

We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the following:

• Attained, or working towards, a quantity surveying qualification.
• Good analytical & problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in relevant computer programmes (Microsoft Word, Excel etc.).
