Curtis Moore, a market leading roofing and cladding contractor based in Hillington, Glasgow, is excited to offer an opportunity for a Trainee Estimator. This role is perfect for someone eager to start a career in Construction Estimation and develop hands-on experience in a supportive environment.


About the Role: As a Trainee Estimator, you’ll play a key part in our Estimating Department, assisting our Sales and Estimating team in securing new projects across all main sectors in the Construction Industry, with a specific focus on Nuclear, Defence, and Energy opportunities. You will be fully supported by our Senior Estimator and other team members, who will guide you in every step toward becoming a self-sufficient and skilled Estimator. This role is primarily office-based, and you’ll have the chance to develop a thorough understanding of project costing, supplier engagement, and client communication.


Main Responsibilities:

  • Review tender documentation to understand client needs.
  • Research material, equipment, and labour costs.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain costs for their elements of the works.
  • Assist in reviewing technical drawings and producing take-offs.
  • Prepare and submit quotations under Senior Estimator guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams from Design, Procurement, Planning and project delivery for accurate project costings.
  • Support the Sales Team from tender submission to contract award.
  • Help prepare and deliver project handover documents.
  • General department admin duties.

Requirements:

  • HNC/HND in a construction-related course (preferred but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload effectively

Salary: £24,500.00 - £30,000.00 commensurate with experience
