Salary: £37,626 - £44,257
Hours: 36 per week

The Road Safety team are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic colleague to promote the delivery of critical road safety programmes and contribute to casualty reduction on our road network.

Our priority projects across the service include:

• Accident Investigation and Prevention

• Customer relationship and communications

• Pedestrian crossing infrastructure

• Speed reduction measures including surveys and intervention

• Delivery of speed limit reductions and other traffic regulation orders

• Engagement with our School Communities to deliver safe environments around all our schools

• Developing School Travel Audits and delivering appropriate infrastructure

• Delivery of the Road Safety Audit service

• Offering sound road safety advice to various internal and external stakeholders

• Supporting the development of progressive road safety strategies, considering predictive risk including the preparation of committee reports

The postholder will play a key role in the successful delivery of the Road Safety Action Plan for Edinburgh to 2030. We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but rewarding role.

The proposed Action Plan contains a series of ambitious targets, including zero fatalities and at least a 50% reduction in people seriously injured on the city’s streets by 2030.

You should hold a relevant degree or equivalent qualification. Experience in road safety, project development and creating design solutions for appropriate interventions is essential. Successful completion of the RoSPA Road Safety Engineering course would be advantageous.

The team undertakes hybrid working, with the office base being the Council’s main office at Waverley Court, next to Waverley Station. Team members are expected to be in the office and attend site meetings at least 2 days a week.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
