Transport Operations Assistant, Stornoway (1004)
14.8 hours per week, Fixed Term position of 3 months
£11,583 to £12,710 per annum, inclusive of £1,096 per annum Distant Islands Allowance

A Transport Operations Assistant is required to assist the Transport team in complying with Office of the Traffic Commissioner Terms and Conditions of the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Standard National PCV Operators Licence and the safe and efficient operation of Bus na Comhairle bus services.

You will assist with and check/approve weekly driver rotas including holiday cover and sickness absence cover, ensuring they comply with UK driving hour regulations and assist in the routine maintenance and updating of the current and any future electronic ticketing back-office systems (currently Ticketer) used by the Comhairle.

You must have the ability to prepare, read and understand Bus Timetables for both Public and School Transport, be able to co-ordinate information and develop suitable solutions. Good communication and IT skills are required.

You must hold hold a valid Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence for Public Service Vehicles at either National or International level. A further education qualification in an appropriate area, or appropriate experience in the public transport field is also required.

A full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Salary for the above position is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. This position is for a fixed term of 3 months.
