THE ROLE: The role of the Travel Safe Officer will be to increase the public’s confidence in choosing to use and return to rail travel, together with supporting our colleagues dealing with anti-social behaviour, employee assaults, vandalism, trespass, safeguarding and vulnerable persons’ support. Ability to contribute to problem solving based solutions to support the reduction of Anti-social behaviour on our trains and in our stations whilst promoting safe travel for all through working with British Transport Police and external agency partners.

THE PERSON: Enthusiastic and customer orientated. Good understanding of the assessment of Risk, ability to remain calm, controlledf and high level of resilience when dealing with difficlut siutations.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: A good knowledge of human factors, and public risk interface, railway geography, intermediate knowledge of Microsoft applications (training will be provided where required). Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Experience of preparing concise, comprehensive, and informative reports. The candidate must have strong relationship building and networking skills and can liaise and negotiate with a variety of people at all levels both internal and external to ScotRail.

Training will be provided in relation to safeguarding, vulnerability, conflict resolution, break away and restraint, hate craime, managing suicidal contacts and manual handling.

This post works 35 hours per week. These roles will have a flexible roster to meet the scheduling requirements and will be predominantly late shifts with weekend working, (including an additional 13 rostered Sunday turns per annum).

Reference Salary: £34,497 per annum.

Selection process: Assessment and Interview will form the initial stages of the selection process. The final stage for successful candidates will be a medical questionnaire. Appointees must submit at least two satisfactory references, Disclosure Scotland clearance and complete a six-month probation period. Training initially involves a virtual Induction training programme.
