Full Job Description

The Blockchain & Climate Institute (BCI) is an international, volunteer-led think tank dedicated to supporting and advocating the application of blockchain technology in the global fight against climate change. We are seeking a passionate and skilled VOLUNTEER Video Content Editor to play a key role in our communications team. As a Video Content Editor, you will support the BCI's mission by creating engaging, high-quality video content for a variety of platforms. This is a volunteer, unpaid role, as with all roles at BCI, but it offers the chance to make a real impact in the climate action community. The Video Content Editor will work closely with the Communications Team on internal and external projects, contributing to video production efforts that elevate BCI's message and increase awareness of blockchain's role in addressing climate change. This position is part of the Communications Officer Grade within the Communications Branch, under the External Affairs Bureau. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Video Scriptwriting & Story Development: Collaborate with the Communications team to write and refine scripts for video content that aligns with BCI's messaging and goals.
  • Short Video Production: Create high-quality short video clips for social media channels and internal communications, aimed at building engagement and conveying complex messages simply and effectively.
  • Video Podcast Production: Lead the production of video podcasts, including setup, recording, editing, and post-production, to support BCI's thought leadership.
  • Long-Format Video Production: Produce longer videos, such as event summaries, mini-documentaries, and educational content that convey the impact of BCI's work on climate change initiatives.
  • Editing & Post-Production: Manage the video editing process, ensuring each video is polished, impactful, and aligned with BCI's brand guidelines.
  • Collaborative Storytelling: Work closely with graphic designers, writers, and communications officers to create visually compelling, cohesive multimedia storytelling., You will hone or learn new skills including research, presentation, writing, professional etiquette,

  • Selection Process As a voluntary organization, we are pleased to open the door for candidates who may not have the prior experience they need to start, progress, or switch their careers. To recruit the most suitable, talented, or potential new members out of the volume of applications received, it is the BCI's policy to also consider inexperienced candidates to fill our voluntary unpaid roles as long as they can demonstrate the skills required in the written assessment. In the selection process, most candidates will be invited to complete the following assessment. Section A: Verbal and Numerical Reasoning (20 multiple-choice questions) Section B: Situation Judgement Test (20 multiple-choice questions) Section C: In-Tray Exercise (An open-ended assessment relevant to the duties of the role)

  • Strong storytelling and visual communication skills;
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and access to relevant software licenses;
  • Familiarity with audio editing software (for podcasts);
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and adaptable to project requirements and timelines.
  • General & Specialist Knowledge
  • Understanding of video production and post-production workflows;
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content formats, including best practices for engagement;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite, and prior experience with project management or communication tools such as Slack is advantageous;
  • Basic understanding of climate change and blockchain technology is a plus, though not required.
  • Education & Training
  • A relevant degree or professional training in Film, Video Production, Media Studies, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant Experience
  • Proven experience in a video production or content editing role;
  • Demonstrated ability to produce professional-quality video content independently or within a team;
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your work in video production, editing, and content creation.
