Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an Unpaid Work Co-ordinator to join the Justice Unpaid Work Team within East Dunbartonshire Council. The post-holder will coordinate and oversee our team of Unpaid Work Supervisors ensuring a comprehensive quality unpaid work service to the community within East Dunbartonshire. Experience of staff management (ideally within a social work setting)

Knowledge of the wide range of jobs carried out in the community e.g. woodwork, groundwork and painting and decorating is also essential.

The post will involve fostering and developing strong working relationships with other teams within East Dunbartonshire Council in addition to charitable, Third Sector and local organisations. Partnership working and co-working with other workers will form an integral part of this post in achieving positive outcomes. The development of “other activity” will be progressed by the Unpaid Work Co-ordinator and the post-holder will have the ability to be creative and innovative in their practice in developing this activity.

The post holder should also have good numeracy, literacy, organisational, time management skills and the ability to deal with the everyday challenges of the role.

This job requires a full UK driving licence. The post is permanent and is a full-time 35 hours post over 7 days.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment.

Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead. Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary. The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
