Temporary maternity cover until November 2025.

We are looking for a temporary visiting specialist of Music to build on the enthusiasm for music we have within our school. We would also consider a teacher who has a particular interest and experience with music.

This is needed for a full day on a Thursday.

Job Details

To teach a designated subject (Music/Physical Education/Art or Modern Languages) in line with Curriculum for Excellence.

• Teach assigned classes in line with Curriculum for Excellence.
• Prepare lessons and courses.
• Undertake development of the curriculum.
• Contribute to the assessment and reporting on the work of pupils.
• Contribute to the professional development of colleagues.
• Consult with and assist colleagues on subject specific education issues.
• Participate in the organisation of the school to contribute to the school development.
• Plan and school policies as considered appropriate by the Head Teacher.
• Maintain good order and discipline among pupils and to safeguard their health and safety.
• Advise and guide pupils on issues related to their education.
• Work co-operatively as part of a team.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session
In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay.

In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
