Full Job Description

Job Description

Waste Minimisation Officer (Fixed Term for 1 Year) - PKC11967
£31,984 - £35,100
Pullar House, 35 Kinnoull Street, Perth

This is an exciting opportunity to come and work for the Climate Change & Zero Waste Team undertaking a range of diverse activities to increase recycling participation through engaging with residents, businesses, schools and local communities.

This fixed term post could provide an excellent opportunity for a secondment. Secondments can provide a great opportunity for you to build and develop your skills.

Please note that secondment requests from internal candidates are considered by managers on a case-by-case basis, considering the needs of the team, Service and Council as a whole, as well as the development opportunity for the individual.  For internal candidates this process can be initiated on MyView - Questionnaires / forms - Secondment Request Form.

Ideally you'll have experience of working within the waste/recycling industry or have a personal passion as the job requires you to be out and about informing and educating schools and groups with regards to reducing/removing and recycling items in line with national and local policy.

Alongside this, you will be heavily involved with community groups and highlighting local champions.

At times you will be undertaking subprojects to address current and future initiatives ensuring Perth & Kinross Council is ahead of any changes relating to policy & legislation.

In order to get the message out you'll be required to do this on a variety of media platforms including social media (experience of using meta business suite, or similar would be advantageous) and through updating the Councils website, so an eye for design will be advantageous.

Supporting the above will also require you to prepare and deliver relevant communication information, such as internal news bulletins to a variety of staff and Elected Members, therefore attention to detail and having the ability to plan your work and meet deadlines is crucial.

You will respond to relevant Freedom of Information requests along with litter monitoring through LEAMS.

The Individual

You must have an HND equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.

You will be a confident and engaging person who enjoys dealing with people whilst excelling in compiling, delivering and promoting projects and campaigns to spread the word of the Waste Management industry throughout Perth & Kinross.

If you would like any more information regarding this vacancy, please contact Nicola Simpson, Waste Services Team Leader on or Annie Nettleton on .

When completing your application for this post, please ensure that you provide contact details (including e-mail addresses) for two referees.  One should be your current or most recent employer.

Please APPLY ONLINE.  Facilities are available at all public libraries in Perth and Kinross.  If you have a disability and require reasonable adjustments, please call to discuss.

As part of our safer recruitment measures, any offer of employment will be subject to the successful completion of mandatory checks including eligibility to work in the UK, Disclosure Scotland or PVG, qualifications, references, and fitness to undertake the post.  This may also include an Overseas Criminal Records Check if you have spent time living overseas.

A healthy work life balance is important to Perth & Kinross Council and we provide supportive management and flexible working arrangements to help you achieve a healthy work life balance.  You will have access to training and support for continued professional development.
