Work Based Assessor – Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair

Permanent, Full Time

35 hours per week (1.0FTE)

Salary: £32,528 - £35,721 per annum

UHI Perth is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands.

We are looking for a Work Based Assessor in the subject discipline of Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. The role will involve work-based and college-based assessments, maintaining accurate records, reviewing progress and compiling supporting documentation in the form of an SVQ portfolio for candidates undertaking our vocational qualifications with IMI. The role also requires you to work collaboratively, developing industry links and assisting in the generation of new business for the college.

You will be experienced in motor vehicle maintenance and repair, having previously undertaken a role as either a car mechanic, light vehicle technician, master-tech, auto-electrician or MOT tester.

You will have completed a typical trade apprenticeship i.e. SVQ Level 3 or other similar time-served qualification. You may also have experience of working in a similar role in an educational establishment or industry, however noting this position is based upon a good understanding of the day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks undertaken in garages, and thus educational experience is not essential. Ideally you should also possess an assessor award such as D32/33 or A1 or L&D9DI, however this can be gained on-the-job where required.

An ability to work independently and a willingness to travel across the local region to assess candidates is also a necessary requirement.

Closing date: 23:45 on Friday 22 November 2024.

Interview Date: Wednesday 4 December 2024.

This post undertakes regulated work with children and a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme check is required. A check will be made against the list of those barred from working with children.
