Full Job Description

Safe Space supports survivors of childhood sexual abuse through one-to-one counselling, therapeutic
group-work, and an outreach service.

This new post forms part of the team at Safe Space, providing a counselling service to Young People
(age 12-18 years old) at our base in Dunfermline and any other outreach buildings as identified. The
coordinator is responsible for leading, supervising and coordinating a small team of a part time
counsellor and 2 trainee counsellors to work with young people who have experienced childhood
sexual abuse. The post holder will liaise with all relevant agencies associated with young people.

Within the 15 hours the post holder must include the team meetings once a month, group supervision
and external supervision. Evening client appointments may be required, as may be occasional
weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be granted as appropriate. The holiday entitlement will be
5.6 weeks plus 9 public holidays pro rata.

Essential

  • Qualified and experienced young people's counsellor trained in a person-centred approach.

  • Minimum of 2-years counselling experience.

  • Supervisory qualifications and substantial experience of supervising both trainee and

  • experienced counsellors in the field of childhood sexual abuse.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of therapeutic working with trauma.

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with other professionals.

  • Ability to work in a diverse team.

  • Valid UK driving licence and use of own car.

  • Clear understanding of confidentiality and boundaries.

  • Experience of delivering training to volunteers

  • Experience of working within the voluntary sector.

  • Substantial experience of group supervision face to face, with both trainee and experienced

  • counsellors.

    15 hours per week. Salary £31,000 pro rata.
