Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a fixed term position until 31.03.2025

The shift pattern for this position is day time hrs + 1 evening per week 6.00-9:30pm.

 (Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

This 22.5 hr post, is an opportunity to work within the Youth Health Service (an early intervention service) as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing and planning care for clinical issues such as sexual & mental health, risk-taking behaviours as well as some areas of physical health.

Duties will include:

  • Support around non-clinical issues such as housing, financial inclusion and training and employment.
  • Liaising with other statutory and non- statutory professionals to assist young people to work towards positive outcomes.
  • The post will be required to work in the evening providing 1:1 consultations as part of service delivery.
  • Provide wrap around follow up activity out with service delivery times.
  • Hours to suit the service with some flexibility in discussion with the Youth Health Service Manager and Nurse Team Leader (please call to discuss).

Requirements:

  • The post holder will be educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) with a first level nursing qualification.
  • They will hold or be interested in working towards a qualification in Sexual & Reproductive Health & a qualification in Community or Public Health (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience of working with young people is an advantage, as is experience in making sound clinical judgements.
  • The ability to plan, organise and prioritise work and excellent communication are key skills for this post.

The core team are based in Gartnavel Royal hospital and the service is delivered in a variety of venues across the city.
