Full Job Description

West Calder Hub is a community education centre based in West Lothian. It houses a Community Caf , Community Shop, Community Gym, Playgroup, a Kick Pitch and spaces for hire. There are a wide range of community groups and services running from the centre and the Hub is an important part of the community. The Role We are expanding our youth provision and looking for an experienced youth worker who can show equal skills on delivery and development. This role will involve building on a very successful summer programme and creating a new range of opportunities for the young people of the area. Engaging with the young people and helping to bring their voice front and centre is key for this role to succeed. An asset based approach to your practice and the ability to network with minimal supervision will make this role an exciting opportunity for practitioners interested in true grass roots approaches to community development. You should have a genuine interest in working with young people, excellent communications skills and be able to build positive relationships. Any special skills in sport, multimedia, technology , music and arts would be welcomed. Job Information This role is offered as a 21 hours per week contract for an initial 7 month, with hopes to continue subject to funding. The rate of pay will be 13.50 per hour. The hours can be worked flexibly in arrangement with the Centre Manager and involve a mix of delivery and development duties. Ideally the candidate will be able to work some afternoons and evenings to suit the needs of the organization.
