Pathways to Success

Pathways to Success supports secondary school learners with social, emotional and behavioural needs. The provision is based on a shared placement model where the learner maintains links with their mainstream school. The time spent across both settings is agreed through the initial referral and constantly reviewed through the child planning process. Learners are allocated a space at Pathways to Success through the ERG process. However, there are a number of recommended supports that must have been used and evidenced before going to ERG.

As part of Midlothian’s multi-agency approach, Pathways to Success aims to support learning and inclusion for vulnerable children and young people. Pathways to Success will seek to mitigate the cycle of disadvantage which impacts disproportionately on the children and young people in Midlothian who are our target population. The purpose of our service is to meet the needs of the most vulnerable by improving educational experiences, promoting inclusion and improving positive life outcomes through access to additional, quality, education support.
