Full Job Description
The Oaks (St. Ann's) is a modern residential unit for elderly citizens with a range of needs, including dementia. Citizens may be either short term or longer term residents, depending on their identified needs and circumstances. The successful candidate will be responsible for the general cleanliness and hygiene within the Oaks Residential Care Home including the cleaning, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming of floor surfaces and skirting boards, complete hygiene maintenance of bathroom and lavatory areas, maintaining the cleanliness of Citizens' bedrooms, including dusting and also ensuring that the public areas of the establishment are kept clean, tidy and welcoming. There is periodical cleaning of internal windows and walls, maintaining the condition of upholstered and carpeted areas by shampooing and the polishing of furniture ensuring maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the unit, complying with legislation, Council procedures and safe working practices including reporting of any faults and hazards. Shifts will mostly be worked during the mornings and daytimes and will include weekend work on rota.
· Basic awareness of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements relevant to cleaning
- Basic understanding of different cleaning methods and equipment
- Ability to be trained to carry out a range of cleaning duties, including using different equipment and materials safely
- Experience of being part of a team and ability to work on own initiative and to ask for help when required
- To be physically able to carry out all duties required in the role
- Willingness to work flexibly, to meet the needs of the service and ensure appropriate cover
- Awareness of the importance of good customer care A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
