Finance Lead
Part Time (Flexible working including possible term time only working)
Location: Homeworking with access to co-working spaces
Circa £44,000 pro-rata
The Scottish Council of Independent Schools (SCIS) is an educational charity representing and promoting the interests of fee paying and specialist schools across the country. We provide a platform for more than 70 independent schools, representing almost 30,000 pupils from a range of backgrounds, ensuring the sector is at the forefront of Scottish education. More than 120,000 people, who don’t attend our schools, also benefit from our partnerships in local communities.
As a membership organisation we are looking at innovative ways to reduce costs and maximise our income to deliver best value for our members. To do this, we are seeking a highly skilled finance professional to join our small, highly experienced team. This is a new role, which will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of accounting records, conduct month-end checks and reconciliations, and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The role includes preparing annual budgets, monthly management accounts, and Key Performance Summaries against budget. The successful candidate will confidently present financial packs to the Board and AGM, liaise with auditors, and lead initiatives to drive income growth.
We are ideally looking for an ambitious qualified CA/ACCA or equivalent with a strong background in financial management, we will also consider individuals who are part-qualified/qualified by experience. This role requires an individual to take ownership of all finance-related responsibilities and as such, confidently demonstrate solid experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, as well as strong knowledge of accounting software and systems. You will bring excellent communication skills, to enable you to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual seeking flexibility, such as a part-time role. The position offers the chance to manage finances independently within a small team, providing a great balance of autonomy and support while contributing to the independent school sector. If you are a finance professional and have a passion for education, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Applications in the form of a tailored CV and covering letter, highlighting your skills and experience pertinent to the role, should arrive no later than Thursday 10 April.
For a confidential, informal discussion about the role, please contact LHH directly.
