Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by a global PE backed energy service company to source a Financial Controller on a full time basis. This maternity cover role is offered on a fixed-term 14 month contract. The role will be based in Bridge of Don with flexible working on offer.

This Finance Leadership position provides Accounting and Financial Reporting, and serves as a financial advisor for the business unit supporting the Managing Director and business teams for the business unit. Our client is looking for an experienced Financial Controller who can hit the ground running and start within one month notice. Both Qualified and QBE candidates will be considered.

The Opportunity

• Provide strategic financial leadership and support the business unit and its leadership team
• Develop and report on analytics to influence effective decision making and achieve revenue, gross margin, EBITDA and working capital targets
• Present and participate in operations/business reviews and other special projects or steering committees to ensure achievement of financial plans and strategic goals
• Provide financial support and analytical guidance in identifying and solving problems within all functional areas of the business
• Preparation of monthly management accounts
• Business unit level general ledger month-end close, financial reporting, balance sheet account reconciliations while working with the Corporate Controller, FPA and other teams regarding accounting/financial requirements for the division while ensuring compliance to GAAP or statutory accounting standards
• Oversee weekly cash forecasting activities
• Build annual operating budget for business unit
• Prepare applicable tax returns, ensure compliance with tax requirements
• Lead and prepare for external financial audits
• Manage financial process for key strategic capital-intensive projects
• Develop and manage a high-performance team and culture in a fast-moving environment to achieve strategic goals
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities to existing team

Background and Experience

• Qualified Accountant or QBE
• 8-10 + years of related experience with 5+ of those in a supervisory role
• Working knowledge of payroll processing, taxes, compliance, auditing, and benefits administration
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes and diagnose problems
• Excellent leadership skills
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to propose positive business solutions to problems
