Full Job Description
P&L Recruitment are working exclusively with our rapidly expanding client based in North Lanarkshire to recruit a full-time, permanent Assistant Accountant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring that all financial transactions are recorded in a timely manner while managing one member of staff in accounts payable. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experience Assistant Accountant to progress their career with a successful organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers and journals
- Reconcile expenses
- Reconcile credit card payments
- Bank reconciliations
- VAT Return preparation
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review
- Assisting with month end duties
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
- Manage the subcontractor ledger, including invoice posting and compliance checks (CIS, reverse VAT knowledge essential)
- Verify subcontractors’ CIS status and insurances
- Handle email and phone queries from subcontractors and surveyors
- Managing the payroll which is outsource and checking holiday pay
- Management and development of a team member
- Ad hoc duties as required
Requirements:
- Previous Accounts Assistant experience is essential
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Highly proficient skills in Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable liaising with stakeholders across the business
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
