Full Job Description

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Arboricultural Project Manager (Highways) to join our dynamic Scottish Grounds Maintenance team in Scotland. This is a full-time role working 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

In this role, you will be responsible for the management of a range of Arboriculture Projects, including Ash Dieback, undertaken by Amey throughout Scotland, principally on the NMC North-East & South-West Contracts.

This role would suit a candidate with an arboriculture or forest management background. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to set and manage project objectives and outcomes, including developing requisite processes and technical solutions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage woodland and Ash Dieback projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Oversee the collection of accurate data on tree and woodland assets, including condition and maintenance requirements.
  • Work closely with data collection and GIS teams, identify opportunities for process improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance data capture and analysis capabilities.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data analysis processes. Implement quality control and validation measures to maintain high standards of data reliability.
  • Utilise analytical tools and techniques to extract meaningful insights and trends from large datasets and to enhance data management and analysis capabilities.
  • Perform detailed analysis of data to inform management strategies.
  • Create detailed reports and visualisations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders. Present data in a clear and concise manner, making it accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare technical notes, woodland management plans and ash dieback action plans.
  • Evaluate felling and thinning operational methodologies and access constraints. Collaborate with stakeholders and supply chain to develop solutions.
  • Develop and implement operational delivery programmes. Monitor progress and performance of delivery to ensure safety, quality and productivity standards are met. Identify and mitigate programme risks and manage change.
  • Diligently capture and manage delivery records.
  • Measure works in accordance with approved methods.
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for operational activities.
  • Undertake Professional Tree Inspections and woodland / vegetation surveys when required.
