Full Job Description
We are working in partnership with a well-respected dairy enterprise in the Dundee area to recruit a Herd Manager for their established 250-cow unit. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and proactive individual to take on full day-to-day responsibility for the herd, working within a forward-thinking, family-run business that prioritises animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.,
- Full responsibility for herd health, welfare, and productivity
- Daily milking and rota management
- Grassland management and implementation of grazing plans
- Fertility monitoring, calving, and youngstock oversight
- Accurate record keeping and ensuring compliance
- Managing feeding routines and liaising with nutritionists and vets
Proven experience in herd management or a senior herdsman role - Strong knowledge of grass-based systems
- Confident in herd health, fertility, and youngstock development
- Self-motivated and able to lead a small team
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach
