Introduction

As Architectural Technician you will be expected to produce detailed designs and information in line with our BOPAS Certified Management System, to facilitate the efficient and timely manufacture and completion of projects. You will report to and work very closely with the Architectural Manager, assisting them in demonstrating the buildability and technical compliance of the design solution, as well as working closely with manufacturing and the site installation team to develop fully technical compliant solutions.

Job Description & Working Activities

• Attend relevant design team meetings and internal workshops as required to facilitate the development of the design, and incorporate design information from third parties and subcontractors to ensure design elements are fully coordinated.
• Be responsible for generating preliminary and detailed design and model information on allocated schemes, which will also involve the preparation of modular construction designs (training will be provided relative to this element).
• Understanding how the design aspects of a construction project influence and relate to performance and functional issues so that practical questions can be addressed at the outset;
• Liaise with production and site management teams and operatives, to ensure design information is produced correctly in line with the overall design programme, and communicated efficiently.
• Evaluating and advising on environmental, legal and regulatory issues;

Contributing to planning applications and other regulatory application procedures;

• Developing project briefs and working on these as the project progresses;
• Preparing and presenting design proposals using computer-aided design

(CAD) and traditional drawing methods;

• Producing, analysing and advising on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used;

Carrying out design-stage risk assessments;

• Carry out design activity in line with the requirements of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the BOPAS Management System and maintain the appropriate paperwork records.
• Carry out regular project inspections, including projects within the adjoining factory
• Produce setting out drawings for site installation

Essential Requirements for the role: 

• Qualifications to HND/HNC/Architectural Technologist/CIAT level
• Be competent in the use of appropriate CAD Software such as Revit & AutoCAD
• Have experience working within a design role in a construction or support business
• Be capable of managing workload to meet assigned deadlines, and to report back to the Architectural Manager in relation to design programme progress
• Have a working knowledge of Building Regulations
• Possess general building knowledge (traditional/timber frame)
• Office based role essential to assist with design facilitation within the factory
• Valid driving licence and own vehicle
• Ability to work within a team
• Willingness to learn project management skills and run entire project own your own.
