Full Job Description
Workers will be closely involved with the Committee and particularly with the Chair and co-Vice Chairs, to engage the wider membership and partner organisations in advocating for the CAMHS patient group.
The focus of Faculty work is to improve the mental wellbeing of children, young people and their families. You can read more about the Faculty on our webpages. https://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/members/devolved-nations/rcpsych-in-scotland/about-us/faculties-working-groups
The Faculty Executive Committee meets four times a year via MS Teams to discuss a range of issues relating to the specialty of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and CAMHS services. The Committee is made up of psychiatrists and trainees from across Scotland. There is an annual conference in November.
Patient/Carer Representatives are expected to contribute by attending and contributing to the Executive Committee meetings and working with other committee members to complete pieces of work, such as input into consultation documents and College papers. Opportunities arise for involvement with the annual conference, communications and the media. Further general information about the College Patient and Carer Representative roles is available here. The Patient or Carer Representative must have access to their own electrical equipment to attend meetings and have Wi-Fi connection.
RCPsych has developed a high media profile and is a leading organisation in terms of equality and diversity. It was a recent winner of Charity of the Year at the European Diversity Awards. This is an excellent opportunity for those with lived experience of CAMHS to contribute their perspectives on important mental health issues for children and young people and be part of our ongoing strategy and communications development.
