Renfrewshire Council is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Events and Community Engagement Officer to join the events team to support delivery of an exciting portfolio of events and projects across Renfrewshire.
The postholder will play a crucial part in developing and maintaining relationships with local cultural and community groups to support the creation of a cultural calendar of events across the town centres of Renfrewshire whilst also playing a key role in the delivery of the council-led events programme.
It is essential that you have recent relevant experience of working with volunteers in a community engagement setting with management skills across the cultural, community and volunteering sector. Working relationships with elected members, private, public and third sector stakeholders is essential as is supporting retail and business partners to maximise the benefits of events.
The postholder will have experience of working within a live events environment including programming, delivery and overall project management of events with experience of contributing to large scale public events.
It is essential you are an effective and confident communicator with organisational skills, and you have knowledge of health and safety legislation in relation to events. Having a positive ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to work under pressure and be self-motivated is also essential.
The postholder will manage project budgets and it is desirable that the postholder has previous experience of managing budgets and accessing cultural funding.
A knowledge of working within a local authority environment with an understanding on the key issues which impact on council service delivery is desirable as is the ability to identify and measure outcome focussed activities in relation to the delivery of events.
It is essential to demonstrate a flexible approach to working as the role will require some evening or weekend work across multiple locations in Renfrewshire.
