Full Job Description
These roles are all linked to a new service for unpaid Carers and are funded by the Big Lottery Community Fund, the William Grant Fund and the Garfield Weston. The aim of the service is to support all unpaid Carers from the age of 18 to self-manage their caring role, in a way that does not impact negatively on their health & wellbeing and that of the cared for person. This service will bridge the support between our exiting counselling service and the role of the Carer Link Worker.
- The Wellbeing Officer will be responsible for providing emotional and practical support, as well as assisting unpaid Carers to take part in activities that matter to them, and help them engage with their community to reduce social isolation and provide methods to enable them to continue in their caring role
- To develop effective relationships with a range of partners, Social Work, and voluntary organisations to extend the breadth and quality of support available to unpaid Carers
- To utilise technology effectively to help deliver the best possible service to the Carers we support including the creation of wellbeing plans, record support, monitor outcomes and gather feedback
- The postholder(s) will be expected to demonstrate:

- Respond to and assess incoming internal referrals to the service
- Undertake baseline and exit assessments of the Carers we support, using appropriate measures
- Support people to identify their personal health & wellbeing outcomes
- Agree a schedule of one-to-one self-help coaching sessions for each client via the development of their wellbeing plan
- Enable people to recognise, understand and manage/overcome their challenges within their caring role
- Help people to develop and tools and techniques they need to maintain good health & wellbeing
- Equip people to use self-help approaches and resources which enable them to have greater control over their health and wellbeing
- Assist people to review their progress towards their personal outcomes
- Work closely with the Volunteer Co-Ordinator in the support, and direction of Carers Call volunteers Outcome measuring and evaluation of support
- Support Carers to identify their health & wellbeing outcomes, by using the Outcome Star tool at the beginning and end of their support
- Use of Connecting Carers monitoring and evaluation systems including the Carers database to record accurate information
- Creation of new evaluation tool relevant to service to measure the outcomes that are required by funders Partnership Working
- To promote your role and partnership working with all members of the multi-disciplinary health and social care planning team(s)and other Third Sector partners
- Work closely with Carer centre staff and volunteers
- Raise awareness of the service through the provision of shared learning events for internal and external partners Administration
- Responsible for the administration of the service
- Maintain appropriate records, including financial, statistical, bookings, evaluations General duties
- Comply with the Carers centre policies and procedures such as confidentiality policy
- Take responsibility for continuing professional development by taking part in relevant training and produce work plans
- Undertake any other tasks or duties necessary to achieve the goals of the organisation under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer
Previous experience of self-help techniques and/or CBT approach - Experience and knowledge of how people self-manage their challenges/barriers
- Ability to develop, co-ordinate and deliver a person-centred service
- Experience of supporting adults/children via a supportive service
- Knowledge of issues affecting people who may be socially isolated or marginalized
- Ability to build equal and positive relationships with people
- Ability to understand Carers needs and the challenges they face
- Experience of working and/or supporting volunteers
- Excellent listening, written and verbal presentation skills
- Ability to manage own self care
- Ability to navigate challenging conversations
- Experience in group facilitation
- Ability to monitor and evaluate
- Ability to work effectively as a member of the team and on own initiative
- Ability to use initiative, develop and implement innovative ideas
- Ability to be organised and prioritise workload
- Ability to work flexible hours when required
- The post requires someone who is competent and confident in the use of technologies, including mainstream software packages, e-mail, and internet
- Competent and confident in creating content for social media platforms e.g Canva
- Ability to respond and work with unpaid Carers in an appropriate, friendly, empathetic, sensitive, and professional manner Desirable
- Educated to a higher education level or a minimum two years' relevant experience
- Experience of working in a supportive role
- Knowledge of the Carer (Scotland) Act 2016
- Previous experience of a Wellbeing Officer role
- An understanding of the health & social care sector in Highland
- A current full driving licence and access to own transport
