Full Job Description
Amcol Scotland Ltd are committed to the care and welfare of young people in a childcare environment and are seeking to recruit an Early Years Practitioner at Bellwood Nursery. Bellwood Nursery is a purpose-built establishment registered to provide care for 147 children and is located in the Carfin area of North Lanarkshire.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the learning and development of children through the planning and preparation of stimulating learning experiences in line with national documents. The successful applicant will provide care and support while promoting independence in our young learners.
This is a full-time position and candidates will be required to work Monday - Friday from 8am - 4:30pm, with one late night per week (9:15-6:00pm).
Applicants must possess a relevant qualification to be considered for this role such as HNC Childhood Practice, SCQF Level 7 in Social Services Children and Young People or NNEB, as required by the SSSC for registration purposes.
This position is subject to membership of the SSSC and PVG Scheme.
Responsibilities
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.)to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colours, do crafts etc.)
- Supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
- Collaborate with other staff, outside agencies etc.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working area, consistent with health and safety standards
Skills
- Proven experience as an early years practitioner with young children
- Excellent understanding of national guidance and documents
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures within nurseries
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
