Job Title: Senior Estimator – Tier 1 Contractor
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £75,000 - £80,000

The company is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their expanding team and contribute to their continued success in the Scottish construction industry.

Job Overview:
As Senior Estimator, you will be a key figure in the pre-construction phase, responsible for providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for a wide range of large-scale projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal teams, you will ensure that tenders are submitted on time, accurately, and in line with the client’s requirements. Your expertise will directly impact the delivery of successful projects, helping drive the company’s ongoing growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage detailed cost estimates for large-scale construction projects.
• Analyse tender documentation, including drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Work alongside clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather accurate pricing and ensure competitive tender submissions.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure value for money and compliance with project requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams to manage project costs and ensure estimates align with project budgets.
• Mentor and support junior estimating staff, fostering their development and skills.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, costs, and any changes throughout the tender process.
• Keep up to date with industry developments, market trends, and cost fluctuations.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Proven experience as a Senior Estimator, ideally within a Tier 1 or large regional contractor environment.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and pricing strategies for large-scale projects.
• In-depth understanding of tendering and procurement processes within the UK construction industry.
• Competency in using estimating software and construction management tools.
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and work under pressure.
• A relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is desirable.
