Full Job Description
Our client is a well-known housebuilder in the private and affordable sectors in Scotland. They are looking Quantity Surveyor with expertise in new build housing developments to join their large commercial team in Edinburgh. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. Your primary focus will be on minimising costs and enhancing value for money while achieving the required standards and quality. You will be managing a minimum of 2 sites in Lothian and the Scottish borders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
- Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labour costs.
- Negotiate contracts and work schedules.
- Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assess and manage project risks.
- Prepare and submit final accounts.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in new build housing developments.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills.
