Full Job Description
Please note this role is for a 3 year fixed term contract
Context for this role
The breadth and depth of the Rangers Charity Foundation’s activities have shown steady growth in recent years and in April 2016 we took on responsibility from Rangers Football Club for the strategic development and delivery of a wide range of charitable community programme activity. This has transformed the scale of the Foundation’s charitable provision and our ability to help people change their lives for the better.
The creation of the role of Community Hub Officer in January 2018 represented an exciting new development for the Foundation’s work in the local community. The Rangers Charity Foundation’s first Hub in the Community initiative is based in Govan High School and in partnership with the school we aim to create an engaging hub of structured activity to help raise the attainment levels of pupils and boost the links and educational opportunities to Primary Schools within its catchment area. The initiative was inspired by the Manchester United Foundation’s Community Hub approach. We have since set up Community Hub Officer’s in Knightswood Secondary, Drumchapel High School and Whitehill Secondary School. We want to inspire, engage and facilitate the best outcomes possible for pupils and to promote Whitehill secondary School within its local community to the highest standard. The Community Hub Officer, alongside our existing Community Hub Officer in Whitehill, will be instrumental in delivering a series of bespoke programmes and pupil mentoring approaches within the school and act as a bridge to the wider work of the Rangers Charity Foundation in the community. Line management for this role will be provided by a Community Hub Coordinator at the Foundation and the delivery of the Rangers Charity Foundation Hub in the Community programme at Whitehill secondary School will be overseen by a Steering Group made up of Foundation and school representatives.
A new 5-year strategy for the Rangers Charity Foundation will soon be in place and expansion in our community programme provision, particularly in the areas of employability, education, health and wellbeing and diversity and inclusion continues. The successful candidate would therefore be joining the Foundation at an exciting time in the further development of our work to help transform people’s lives for the better.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have relevant experience with an education, sports development or community coaching background. The candidate should possess a dynamic and charismatic personality, excellent communications skills with the ability to work with key stakeholders and to develop excellent working relationships. They will also demonstrate sound project management skills and the ability to network with, inspire and motivate a wide range of people and interest groups. They will have an enthusiasm and passion for the Rangers Charity Foundation’s ability to be a force for good in the community and they should be able to demonstrate that they can deliver results and be committed to monitoring and evaluating outcomes.
Experience:
• At least 2 years’ experience working with children or young people in a teaching or coaching environment.
• HND or degree calibre or equivalent proven experience which should include at least two years’ experience in an educational or community setting.

• Approachable – will be open minded and value diversity.
• An energy and willingness to work outside of normal office hours, including evening events, occasional match days and weekends.
• Be passionate about making a positive difference to others.
Responsibilities:
• To work with the Hub school and towards the objectives agreed on a termly and annual basis.
• To lead and develop relationships within the school’s community.
• To work with key stakeholders to develop good relationships including the Head Teacher, senior staff, teachers and key influencers.
• To monitor and evaluate the work of Hub in the Community, collecting available data (as agreed by the school) in order to provide comments, case studies and evidence of good practice, submitting regular reports as required by the school and the Foundation.

• To engage and mentor identified pupils who are most disengaged in order to boost their attainment levels at the school.

Introduction to the Rangers Charity Foundation
At Rangers we’re passionate about football, but we’re also passionate about what the Club stands for off the pitch. The work of the Rangers Charity Foundation embodies the strong charitable values of the Rangers Family and a spirit that everyone connected with the Club can feel proud of.
The Foundation has an ambitious vision and an ever-growing impact which is transforming thousands of lives for the better both in the local community and further afield, all made possible thanks to our close relationship with fans and our many funding partners. We aim to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, providing financial support through key charity partnerships, offering in-kind support via a wide range of initiatives and delivering a comprehensive range of transformational community programmes within the local area and further afield.
Since its creation in 2002, the Rangers Charity Foundation has donated over £6.7 million in cash and in-kind support to worthwhile causes.
This season we have a number of key charity partnerships in place. In Glasgow, we are supporting Glasgow City Mission & Simon Community Scotland via funds raised from our Big Ibrox Sleep Out events and also Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. Our continuing support for those affected by homelessness in our city follows the tremendous success of our Big Sleep Out events. Our National Partner changes each season and in 2024/25 we are working closely with the SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health). We are proud to support serving personnel and veterans through our special Armed Forces Partnership and, along with the Club, are proud to have signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant.
In the community, we are working with over 8,000 people this season through a range of over 20 programmes which aim to transform people’s lives for the better. We have recently taken over the Ibrox Community Complex, which delivers inspiring education programmes to Primary and Secondary schools in Glasgow and hosts some of our flagship health and wellbeing programmes, such as Team Talk and Football Fans In Training. Our ability to help people take positive steps towards or even securing employment continues to be an aspect of our activity and we are an SQA Approved Centre and have delivered awards to well over 1,000 candidates. As well as welcoming people to Ibrox, our community coaches are focused each day on delivering programmes such Joy of Moving, Towards Better Futures and our SQA Programme of Wider Achievement.
Being a good neighbour is important to us, and the Rangers Charity Foundation is investing in more and more opportunities for people in the local community to benefit from, including Walking Football, Football Memories, Saturday Night Youth Hub and contributing funds for the benefit of local groups and organisations.
The Foundation also makes the dreams of hundreds of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children and adults come true by arranging for them to meet the players and attend matches and tours at Ibrox and to visit the Rangers Training Centre for our fantastic ‘Dream Day’ with the team.
We respond to over 3,000 requests annually from people up and down the country who are raising funds for their own favourite charities and worthwhile causes and aim to be as generous as possible by donating hundreds of prizes, including signed items, Stadium tours and match tickets.
The impact of the Foundation’s work over the years has been significant and this has only been achieved through the terrific backing we receive from the life blood of the Club – our supporters.
