Educational Visitor (7/11645) (1FTE) (Temporary)

Unpromoted Teacher Scale £33,594 - £50,589
The successful candidate for this post will be expected to deliver:
- Early intervention working with children who have significant additional support needs
- Assessment and evaluation of the child’s needs within the family setting or in the wider community
- Promoting greater understanding of the child’s needs
- Offering appropriate intervention strategies to develop skills
- Enabling settings to meet the needs of the child
- Supporting families when appropriate
- Facilitating the child’s entry to pre-school / educational provision / P1
- Working in collaboration with other agencies and services
- Following GIRFEC guidelines for local practice
- Liaison with health and social services
Another essential part of the work will involve liaison and the development of close and effective working relationships with the parents of the children involved.
Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience working within the early/First Level curriculum and working with children with additional years.
Candidates who do not already possess an appropriate qualification in Additional Support for Learning may be required to undertake relevant training as advised by the authority.
This position is temporary until 1 May 2027 and may be suitable for a Secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
