Full Job Description
Who we are
We are the independent regulator for the social work, social care and children and young people workforce in Scotland. Our work means the people of Scotland can count on these services being provided by a trusted, skilled, confident and valued workforce.
We protect the public by registering this workforce, setting standards for their practice, conduct, training and education and by supporting their professional development. Where people fall below the standards of practice and conduct, we can investigate and take action.
About the role
A vacancy has arisen within our Systems Development team with the Digital Services department.
The main purpose of the Systems Development Officer role is responsibility and delivery of day to day management of key operational systems. These include our customer relationship management system (Dynamics 365), our legal case management system (MatterSphere), our public facing online services (MySSSC) and our data intelligence systems.
What you need to succeed
We are looking for a candidate to manage all aspects of the key operational systems Dynamics 365, MatterSphere, MySSSC and data intelligence systems. This includes:
• a proven record of delivering exceptional customer service and continual support to all internal and external customers
• ability to lead others to be innovative, identify and maximise opportunities to continually improve and make efficiencies using technology, while maintaining system integrity and security
• ability to future proof systems by identifying potential change and improvement to best support the organisation as it evolves
• experience of developing change by customising system code using a range of programming languages such as JavaScript, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, Liquid
• experience of using business insights and intelligence to inform decision making and continually improve the services we offer to our customers, both internal and external
• a proven track record in managing change control, planning for development cycles, ensuring robust acceptance testing, and coordinating implementation of change and acceptance into business
• ability to maintain the security and integrity of the systems and data
• experience of building effective working relationships with multi vendors involved in systems delivery
• effective management of system users, roles, profiles, security permissions, groups and other setup and security options within our systems
• accurate extraction of management information from the key operational systems and contributing to the preparation of reports for internal/external publication
• ability to promote and encourage effective teamwork, learn from others and establish successful working practises
• ability to deputise (as required) for the Systems Development Manager
Why work for us
We are an ambitious, enthusiastic and supportive organisation. With around 300 employees, you can really make an impact here. We offer a generous salary, flexible working arrangements, a full range of benefits, local government pension scheme and up to 43 days holiday (dependent on service).
You can find out more about the benefits of working here on our website.
Our office is in Dundee, and we have an agile working policy. We encourage remote working and support a less office-based format. We are happy to discuss individual arrangements and consider agile working, depending on job requirements (such as being in the office for training events and meetings etc).
We do meet in the office regularly (at least once a month) or when appropriate for the task at hand.
Find more information about us here on our website and on facebook.com/thesssc, X @SSSCNews, Instagram @SSSCNews and LinkedIn @Scottish Social Services Council.
To apply, please complete the online application form by 8.00am on Friday 23 May 2025.
