Senior Quantity Surveyor

The Opportunity
Our client is looking for a highly motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in rail or civil engineering to take on a key role within a leading infrastructure contractor. This role will give you the opportunity to grow and develop your career with the aim of becoming a Commercial Manager within the business.
The Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Working within a structured framework, you will be responsible for cost control, procurement, and contract administration, while also leading and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial management of projects within the rail and civil engineering sectors.
- Administer and manage contracts in accordance with NEC contract principles.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Oversee cost planning, forecasting, and reporting to ensure financial control.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, procurement, and payments.
- Utilise framework agreements to drive efficiency and value for money.
- Work with client and contractor portals to ensure seamless project communication.
- Lead and mentor junior commercial team members, fostering a culture of excellence.
About You:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a major contractor environment.
- Strong background in rail or civil engineering projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of NEC contracts and framework agreements.
- Ability to manage and develop people, providing leadership to a team.
- Proficiency in working with portals and digital contract management tools.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to work collaboratively.
