Full Job Description

Advert

Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join the Strategy, Policy and Insight team within Renfrewshire Council’s Policy and Partnership Service – a great opportunity for people wishing to develop their career as a policy professional within a supportive and dynamic local government environment.

The service leads all corporate planning and performance related activities across the Council, ensuring responsive and flexible policy support is provided to the Chief Executive and Corporate Management Team, service management teams and elected members.

Our team’s vision is to be a high value service with a reputation for high standards and reliability and a leader in policy development, service planning and performance in and across services. These posts play an important role in achieving that vision. It is therefore essential that you have experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation, working in a public policy, partnership working, performance and strategic planning role.

We are looking for two enthusiastic individuals, effective communicators and strategic thinkers with vision and drive to support both the Children’s Services and HSCP team, and the Environment, Housing and Infrastructure team. Part of the wider policy division, these embedded teams offer high-level strategic support to these Council services as well as to the Head of Policy and Partnerships and the wider Corporate Management Team as required.

Whilst the posts are based in the above services, the Policy and Partnerships team operates on the basis of generic job descriptions in order that officers can support services flexibly and as required by the Council.

Both roles will suit an organised individual with effective time management skills. Educated to degree level or have equivalent experience, it is essential that you have experience in local government or a similar diverse organisation.

Experience preparing written policy/research briefings or similar, the ability to analyse and present complex information clearly, with a flexible approach and the ability to work to tight deadlines is essential.

Effective interpersonal, relationship building, verbal and written communication skills are also essential.

Please note that this post is temporary, subject to business needs and funding for 2 Years or until the requirement for the post ceases, whichever date is the earlier.

More detailed information is included within the attached job outline however if you would like to discuss these opportunities informally, please contact Pauline Moss at pauline.moss@renfrewshire.gov.uk

If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post. If you would like further information in relation to the Disclosure Scotland checks, please visit www.disclosurescotland.co.uk
