Glasgow will host the 23rd edition of Commonwealth Games between 23 July and 2 August 2026. Approximately 3,000 athletes and team officials from up to 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in a 11-day celebration of sport and culture. Events will take place across Glasgow, entertaining around 500,000 ticketed spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience of more than one billion.
Glasgow 2026 Limited, the Organising Company (the OC), is organising the Games along with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). Each has key parts to play in the planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Games - individually and collectively - to ensure that Glasgow 2026 is a huge success.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate leader in the world of ticketing and events. The Head of Ticketing should be a dynamic result driven leader who can develop our ticketing strategy and operations to ensure a successful Glasgow 2026.
You will lead our ticketing programme which will include the development and delivery of an effective ticketing strategy ensuring we achieve maximum value from ticketing sales.
This role requires the postholder to be a ticketing expert with experience in establishing and leading a ticketing function for a large-scale organisation or major events.
The successful postholder, will report to the Chief Finance and Corporate Services Officer, and will be able to demonstrate significant experience in a ticketing leadership role, preferably in a consumer-facing role in sports, entertainment, or major events sectors.
Job Summary:
The Head of Ticketing will be responsible for:
- Detailed development of a business plan that incorporates the ticketing pricing strategy by day, venue and event and of a sales/revenue model to meet the Games’ revenue target.
- Development of the solutions strategy for ticketing technology which will include developing and agreeing the formal tender approach to cover ticketing technology, sales processes, ticket production / distribution and customer management.
- Estimating the ticketing requirements of all client groups including CGAs, VIPs, officials, athletes, sponsors, media, broadcasters, general public etc
- Preparing RFP’s / Tender documents to select the Ticketing Partner.
- Managing the ongoing relationship with outsourced provider of ticketing system, the Ticketing Partner.
- Establishing a close working relationship with other Birmingham 2022 functions, particularly Venue Operations and Sport to ensure that ticketing strategy supports overall Games strategy
- Identifying event and venue seat kills (from press, ceremonies etc) non-revenue seats and reserved seats through working with Venue Development and Operations
- Estimating the seating capacity of venues based on information from venue owners/ Venue Development and Operations FA
- Defining the scope of work for the Ticketing FA & planning the Ticketing sales strategy for the Sponsors, CGA Relations
- Planning the various phases for the launch of ticket sales
Education:
The Head of Ticketing should have extensive experience in developing and implementing commercial ticketing strategy.
Key Skills and Experience:
We are looking for a Head of Ticketing who has proven experience in a senior content leadership role, preferably in a consumer-facing role in sports, entertainment, or major events sectors. The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, with a track record of delivering impactful ticketing strategies.
Key attributes include being an excellent communicator, thriving working in a fast-paced environment and being a strong team player.
In addition, the successful candidate should also display strong leadership credentials and have previous experience of leading a team. Relationship building is key for this role and experience of influencing senior internal and external stakeholders essential.
