Full Job Description

INTERNAL APPLICANTS MUST APPLY VIA MYSELF

NLC12 £46,872 - £51,557

We have a shared ambition for inclusive growth and prosperity for all, where North Lanarkshire is the place to Live, Learn, Work, Invest and Visit.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated professional and highly motivated individual to join a well-regarded team responsible for providing a comprehensive, efficient and effective internal audit service across the Council.

As an Internal Auditor you will play a critical role in helping the Council achieve its objectives by providing assurance that the framework of governance, risk management and control is effective and aligned with the Council’s newly refreshed Programme of Work and The Plan for North Lanarkshire.

Working a hybrid model of home-working and office-based within Civic Centre, Motherwell, you will be a confident, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual with a positive disposition and a drive for continual improvement. You will be required to display initiative and creative thinking and take a professional approach to dealing with staff members at all levels, participating in the provision and development of a quality Internal Audit service across the Council.

As an important member of the team, you will have direct responsibility for a varied programme of audit work. Educated to degree or equivalent level, you should have a strong understanding of key technical skills, be able to demonstrate the ability to complete tasks and deliver quality outputs within agreed timescales and have well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal. A good understanding of governance, control and risk issues in financial and non-financial systems is also essential. Membership of a CCAB body or the Institute of Internal Auditors (or equivalent) is desirable.

Evidence of developing and maintaining constructive working relationships is desirable and ideally you should be able to demonstrate experience of conducting interviews, dealing with sensitive situations and handling confidential information.

The job description provides an overview of the generic duties required and the specific tasks that would be undertaken within each team. There may also be flexibility to accommodate alternate work patterns, such as reduced hours and part-time options. If you would like to discuss the post or its duties, please contact Francis Scott, Chief Officer (Audit and Risk) ScottFr@northlan.gov.uk the first instance.
