Job ref: 85ce3d7518834e3e80abc1038b38b291
Full Job Description
You'll work with Environment Agency colleagues, Defra, UK devolved administrations, and Industry to deliver significant changes as we reform legislation. You can make a difference.
You'll need to be adaptable, self-motivated, and able to translate policy into reality.
You'll be involved in all aspects of our work, especially the following:
Working closely with stakeholders across government, industry and the Environment Agency to influence and implement legislation for workstreams including Packaging and Deposit Return Scheme, with support to other workstreams as needed.
Providing technical advice within the Environment Agency and to industry.
You'll be working on driving forward reforms to waste management, to change the way that waste is managed in England, working with like minded people all pulling for the same result. You could be working to help shape a better digital system for the future of waste management, or delving into policy.
We're a dispersed team and work with a wide range of technical and project teams across the country.
We use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel, but some travel and overnight stays may be required.
The team
You'll join our Producer Responsibility Team. We lead on reforming Waste Regulations to ensure the governments ambitions to conserve resources by minimising waste are delivered.
In E&B we promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. We use evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to enhance and support delivery, influence policy, legislation, and secure resources.
Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues in their work.
- Confidence in negotiating outcomes by positively influencing those you work with
- Ability to build trusting and respectful working relationships with others
- Risk based decision making skills, to achieve the best outcome.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, especially waste management legislation.
- Drive to make things happen by innovating
- Communication skills, both written and verbal
The Environment Agency are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.
