JOB DESCRIPTION

Please see attached candidate pack which provides further information.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a deep passion for community health services and social work/social care, encompassing older people, adults, children and families, as well as individuals within the Justice System. The ideal candidate will share our commitment to achieving our vision: Empowering communities to start well, live well, and age well. Your expertise and dedication will be pivotal in driving forward this vision and ensuring the delivery of exceptional services across all areas of care.

The Partnership is governed by the Integration Joint Board (IJB), which consists of eight voting members appointed by South Ayrshire Council and NHS Ayrshire and Arran. The Board also includes representatives from a range of sectors, including the third sector, independent sector, staff representatives, and individuals who represent the interests of patients, service users, carers, and professionals.

The Partnership delivers a wide range of operational services across various local settings, including social work offices, health centres, GP practices, community hospitals, care homes, intermediate care facilities, day centres and schools. This comprehensive network ensures the provision of integrated and accessible services tailored to the diverse needs of the community.

As the IJB Chief Officer and Director of Health and Social Care, you will be responsible for providing high-level strategic leadership to address the complex opportunities and challenges faced across health and social care. This includes tackling growing demand, improving recruitment and workforce retention, and driving the implementation of
innovative practices and advancements in technology.

You will manage an annual budget of approximately £248M, with overarching responsibility for strategic planning, commissioning, and ensuring the effective delivery of services in alignment with the Integration Joint Board Strategic
Plan 2021-31. Your role will involve working closely with stakeholders to promote the integration of health and social care services, ensuring they are responsive, sustainable, and future-focused.

This position requires an exceptional, politically astute leader with a proven track record of sustained success at a senior level. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in driving meaningful change, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and establishing high-performing teams. Your ability to navigate complex political landscapes while delivering tangible results and achieving organisational goals will be crucial to the success of this role.
