Full Job Description
- Meal Preparation - Assist with preparing, cooking, and serving hot and cold meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
- IDDSI Standards - Ensure all meals comply with the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), providing safe and appropriate textures for residents with swallowing difficulties.
- Menu Planning - develop seasonal menus that offer variety, balance, and nutritional value.
- Kitchen Operations - Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, ensuring a safe and well-organised kitchen environment.
- Stock Control & Ordering - Assist in stock rotation, ordering supplies, checking deliveries, and managing food storage.
- Health & Safety - Follow food safety regulations, maintain accurate records of food temperatures, and uphold all Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Training & Supervision - Support kitchen staff and assist with Basic Food Hygiene training for care staff involved in food service.
- Ensure seamless service and high-quality meal production.
Culinary Qualifications - City & Guilds 706 " 1 & 2, or an equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards). - Food Hygiene Certification - Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is essential.
- Team Player - Ability to work effectively with the Head Chef and wider kitchen team.
- Attention to Detail - Strong understanding of food presentation, quality control, and portioning.
- Organisational Skills - Ability to manage multiple tasks and support efficient kitchen operations.
- Care Sector Experience - Experience in a care environment is beneficial but not essential.
